What another beautiful day for portraits this weekend! This one was a little different for me as it was my family (and me… eep!) in the spot light this time. My good photo friends Ben and Amanda of The Dew Drop Co. take most of the credit for these as obviously Paul and I are both in some of them – please check out their fabulous work over at their facebook page (and give them a like too!) I even shot a few of them just for a quick thanks for dealing with my semi-crazy family :) (you can see their beautiful faces at the end of this blog post!)
Wow it’s been an interesting few weeks. Without going too much into detail, I’m back to 98% health and doing fine :) Not everyone has as crazy of a ride getting wisdom teeth pulled – that’s for sure! Anyway! Onto the REAL fun :D
Tonight I got to hang out with Aubrey and her mother Melissa taking some ever fabulous senior photos :D We hopped around portage similar to her brother’s senior shots so we already had almost everything down to a T by the time we began even shooting! So you know what was also extra fabulous about Aubrey? She’s totally a dancer and she was able to do that awesome move where you stand on your tip-toes. I’m not even going to pretend to know exactly what it was called again (someone may TOTALLY correct me) and it was one of the coolest things ever. Like. Seriously. Also what was also so incredibly awesome? Getting to witness that INSANE sunset. Wow. Just …. Wow. I haven’t seen one like that in such an incredibly long time – what a perfect ending to the perfect evening of shooting!
I always LOVE hearing the news about former high school or college friends getting engaged…. I always sit next to the phone hoping they’ll book me within moments (or… haha, days more realistically) that they’ll book me to shoot their wedding. :D So I was so overjoyed when Katie finally gave me that call! I’ve known her since Calvin (Wow… did we meet in the art department first? Or more than likely Knollcrest? It’s been so long!) And it’s been so much fun getting to know her better even now that she’s finishing up some more schooling back in town. It was also fun getting to know Kirk a little better, although I have met him a few times before… I think I even lent him a DS at one point for a video shoot way back when. Thank you you two for bearing with me this evening through my un-fun wisdom tooth condition, and for taking all my really dumb Jenn jokes. May can’t come soon enough!
Brrr! It’s been cold hasn’t it? At least the rain stayed away at this beautiful outdoor wedding today! In fact, the semi cloud covered skies made for the perfect light diffuser for me, while still giving the impression of a beautiful sunny day :D I’m so sad I never got the chance to shoot this couple’s engagement photos (looks like they had a rocking photographer for that already in Minnesota!) but I’m so happy I got the chance to rock out their wedding photography. Jamie was so amazingly laid back, and Rob was so much fun to work with. You can definitely tell these two are just so perfect for each other :) (I also got to see some former emily-waid photography brides in the guest list as well! It’s always so much fun catching up) Enjoy!
What an incredible evening. I know I talk an awful lot about the weather whenever I blog, but holy cow it was so perfect outside! Annika is just a natural born posing rock star too by the way! Almost made my job too easy (also, super jealous of those amazing heels she wore!) :D I had a lot of fun walking around our beautiful city with Annika and her mother tonight capturing some inspiring senior photos – Picture time!!
It was supposed to rain all weekend and all day today, and boy did we get the luckiest break EVER. Although I was kind of secretly praying for a touch of rain for tonight’s session for some good fun with umbrellas and other fun creative shots whilst the rain was pouring, I was super happy with the AMAZING clouds that filled the sky and the occasional sunflair that I was able to capture.
Emily and Matt are some really fun people to shoot with! I wouldn’t even classify tonight session as shooting, I would call it more of a process of creating really fun unique images. Not that I don’t do this at most sessions, but oh.my.goodness so much fun. You also may see a duck friend that we were hoping would like to pose for a few, but she remained unconvinced. I am so excited for these two who are so amazingly in love to get married at the Downtown Market this October!! Also, some dutch bingo was had… Ahhh to be dutch. :) Okay enough of me jabbering – photo time!
