Hello again for the third time this week! Oooooie and it’s another good post today! (okay who am I kidding, all of my couples, families, portraits are awesome people!)
I always love traveling back to my home state of Michigan. And I love seeing the lake even more! But my most favorite part is seeing family of course. And this session is of my cousin Emma and her fiancé Scott. Emma suggested we do something by the lake, most importantly in and around Scott’s boat. Of COURSE I said yes!! AHHH my first shoot on a boat. It was incredible! It was so windy, and the waves were huge out on lake Michigan so we stuck with the smaller lake instead. They are so cute together and you can tell that they are so in love. Scott will make a great addition to our side of the family, and Emma will make a great addition to his! It’s always an honor to shoot for a family member, see you two in January!!
Hey there everyone! It’s a lovely day outside in NYC, for realzies… it’s like 70’s, sunny, and not a cloud in the sky. All of this is great, except I’m a little weirded out because it’s November 3!
This past weekend on Halloween (happy halloween late!) was slightly different than that. Mid fifties, raining, and not a stitch of blue sky in sight. The weather however didn’t stop these two from having one of the best weddings ever! If you’ve been following my blog posts this summer, you probably remember Alicia and Harrison from their June engagement session. We started getting ready, and had their first look, in the cutest little house ever that was rented for the week in the NW side of G.R. We then moved from there to the ever beautiful (and most importantly covered space!) GRAM to take some outside portraits with their delightful wedding party. And we finally moved down to the Grand Rapids Downtown Market, for a gorgeous ceremony in the greenhouse. And the reception was right across the hall, in the banquet hall! Love a wedding that has instant travel :P
Even though it was raining all day, this couple made me forget about the weather practically all day! They’re wedding photographers themselves, and it was lovely to get a little more inspiration for shots – including with amazing halloween masks. They had the perfect touch of fall and the holiday, including fall leaves, mini pumpkins, a card box with a hand (scary! I jumped when I looked in and I even knew what was going to be in there!) and they handed out masks at the beginning of their free dance to ‘Thriller.’ We had so much fun!
Wow, wait… it’s November? I’m so glad this little babe waited until I had a wonderful wedding this past weekend so I’d be in town perfectly in time to capture her first images before she left the hospital <3
So! You may recognize this family from a ton of our past work, engagement session, wedding, first little one (not so little anymore baby Alice!) and various other small shoots, like Laura’s awesome Etsy business Lilac’s and Lace. So it was a pure honor to be able to be called up for little baby Haddie’s portraits! (annnnd I can assure you there will probably be many MANY more, yay!!) And even when she was fussy, Alice and Haddie of course, it was still hard to not just smile so big and just see how cute they both are. Oh man, here are pictures now!
